What does Highway 111 mean?
Highway 111 was developed out of a passage in Ephesians. Paul is in prison writing a letter to the Ephesians begging them to be one united group of followers. To be humble, gentle, and patient with each other. That the readers would love each other despite their faults. He knows that in this time of their life, times are tough. Anyone and any influence can come a rip apart this new faith in Jesus. Paul then writes in Ephesians 4 for the believers to “make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.” What a an incredible picture Paul is writing here!
At Highway 111 we want to create an environment that brings this passage to life. A place where we are united for the cause of Jesus. We focus on 3 aspects of Ephesians 4:5 that reads “one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism.” These 3 words are foundational when trying to show Jesus to those who are not followers. We break it down like this:
1 Lord: God is it! There is nothing else in this world are we to call Lord but him. Not other gods. Not possessions. Not people. We acknowledge that God is it.
1 Faith: There is nothing else in this world that will lead to eternal life but Jesus. You can’t do anything to earn grace or salvation. We are sinful and because of this sin we can’t be with God. But the price of our sin has been paid through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. He’s the way!
1 Baptism: When we say yes to Jesus we are committing our lives to his teaching. Obedience to imitating his life is what God asks of us. We are to follow and become like Jesus in every area in our lives. This is a process that never ends until our final breath.
He is Lord! Jesus is the way to Heaven! Imitate Jesus!
